18 months ago the Scout Association adopted the new uniform, the concept was a good thing for Joey Scouts, it meant that all sections were dressed alike and that Joey Scouts now wear their badges on their uniform.

Before the launch of the uniform it was agreed that because the then Joey Scout uniform tee shirt was no longer able to be purchased, that a Group tee shirt or a blue tee shirt would be able to be used as uniform.

This was to hold members over until the uniform was introduced.

Of course the new uniform meant that we had to introduce some new ceremonies, this because NOW the Joey Scouts can wear badges on their uniform just like the other Members of Scouts.

The investiture of a Joey Scout is now in line with all other members of the association.

You need to present the following badges when investing a new Joey Scout. They now wear on their uniform, the World membership badge, the Australian Flag badge, the Region Badge, the Group Name Tape.

The Investiture should be semi formal, to show the Joey Scout the importance of the investiture.

All Scout members make their promise when invested or reaffirmed, with Joey Scouts it is no different. The Joey Scout repeats the promise, take the Joey Scout through it Line by Line. All other members should be making the Scout sign, it would be helpful to practice this with the Mob before the ceremony.

Presentation of the badges should be done pinning them onto the uniform in the correct places, If the Group Leader is available, have him/her present the Group Scarf.

It is important to make the Joey Scout feel as if they have made it into the Mob, finish by welcoming the new Member with a left hand shake.

Turn the Joey Scout around to face the Mob and have the Mob do a HOP HOP HOP. Then the Joey Scout may join the circle as a full member.

It is expected that all Joey Scouts will be in the new uniform by August 2006, this is because all Joey Scout that were invested in the old uniform should have moved up to Cub Scout's and changed into the new Cub Scout uniform.

If there are any questions please come to Wandarrah and ask, or Contact Joeys@southmetscouts.com

It is time for Joeys to catch up, if your Mob isn't in the uniform yet, you need to get moving on it.
