ANZAC DAY PROGRAMME – KYLE BAY

6 30 to 6 45                   Opening/ Flag Ceremony
Thinking about ANZAC day, ask if anyone knows meaning, Gallipoli, Digger etc. (possibly put the words on wall or on board in hall). Will have a visitor towards end of night to talk about ANZAC etc.

6 45 to 6 55                   Active Game NSEW including instructions,
incoming, into the trench, salute the general.

6.55 to 7.00                   Time Game
Stand still with hands behind backs and sit down when you think a minute is up with the person closest to the time acknowledged. Second round - 30 seconds.

7.00 to 7 10                   Gatekeeper - All in circle with legs astride and toes touching. Left hand to be used to roll a small ball (or balls) through the open legs. If ball goes through legs, cub stand up straight with hands together in front of them and if ball then put through their legs, sender is out and stands straight with hand together in front. Balls are called grenades for the theme.

7. 10 to 7.25         Team Game         Message relay with Chinese whispers
Need to get a message about the enemy across the country to the general - no other means available. Each member of the team to carry a coded message
and a loaded backpack as a relay. Each member to swap stick and backpack on change over. On last leg of relay all members to run back to beginning, sit and
decode the message (code having been given at the beginning - e.g. simple reverse alphabet code written on paddlepop stick in texta). Alternative to message stick, just swap back packs and Chinese whispers message passed by telling next
person the message with last member telling leader the message. Example of messages to write in reverse alpha on stick or to pass by Chinese whispers 1. The enemy is advancing from the south with red paint. 2. The enemy is retreating to the north leaving yellow flour behind. 3. The enemy is coming over the last mountain in the east with black tanks. 4. The enemy is going home to the west and taking all
the blue food with them.

(Go through twice with different messages depending on the time). AND / OR

7 25 to 7 40 Adapted Kaa's Hunting game - advancing across no mans land
Put tables on their side at intervals across and up the room (to be like rocks to hide behind). Cubs to start at one end and when lights turned out (for few seconds)
they to crawl between rocks (tables) to shelter and if leader sees them or any movement when the lights turned on cub is out. Aim to get prize (being any item (up the front) without being seen.

7 40 to 7 55 Visitor to speak to cubs about ANZAC and war etc.
Invite a member of your local RSL Sub Branch to give talk about Anzac Day.
