7.00 Opening

7.10 Grand Howl

Flag

7.15 Poisonous Snakes.

Equipment: Chalk, About 12 x 1metre lengths of Rope.

Divide hall into quarters with each Six standing in a quarter. On ‘Go’ throw all snakes into all quarters. Each Six must throw Snakes out of their quarter and into the other. On ‘Stop’ count all Snakes in each quarter. The winning Six has the least Snakes.

7.25 The Hunger Dance of Kaa.

A Leader to be Kaa’s head with all Cubs trail behind with their hands on the shoulder of the Cub in front, head bowed down. The hole Pack moves slowly in a figure of eight swaying from side to side sliding their feet and making a soft hissing noise. On the command ”Bandarlog” the Snake breaks up and the Cubs run around imitating monkeys. All Leaders try to catch the monkeys. On the command “Kaa” the monkeys freeze and those not caught slowly join up to form Kaa’s tail. All the caught monkeys are swallowed by crawling through the legs of the Cubs and joining the tail.

7.35 Snake Bite (First Aid.)

Equipment: Crape Bandages

Divide Pack up with a Leader and instruct on how to treat a Snake bite.

7.45 Snake (Talk)

Equipment: Posters, Books, Dead Snake in Bottle or Snake Skin.

Try to arrange for a Herpetologist (Reptile Person) to bring a Snake and give a talk.

If not why not scare the little blighters by having them siting on the floor telling them that you have a little baby harmless Children’s Python in a shoe box and they need to be very quite. Slide you hand into the box and pretend that it bites you throwing a rubber snake at them. Watch them scatter.

8.05 Snake Hunt.

Equipment: Paper Snake cut outs, String/Rope or Rubber Snakes

Hide Snakes in and around hall for Cubs to find working in Six.

8.15 Old Kaa’s Child Minding Story

Equipment: Packet of Jelly Snakes.

Cubs sit in a circle with hands cupped in lap. A Leader walks around telling a story about Old Kaa who was so old that he couldn’t catch monkeys or anything else to eat. His fangs were so warn that he couldn’t bite so all the mother snakes asked him to mind their babies. As the Leader drops the baby snakes into the hands of the Cubs ask them to pat and say ‘googy googy goo’ and other nice things. When finish ask the Cubs if they were Old Kaa what would they do.

I don’t think you will be surprised.
