Game - Litterbug

Hall is divided into2 with litter evenly dispersed. JS in two teams with each JS assigned an item to collect. When their item is called they collect as many as possible before the next item. On the call "litterbug" everyone collects.

Plastic bags, pop sticks, newspaper, bottle tops, toilet rolls, corks, etc

Craft – Using Recycled Materials

Mark our area to be cut on 2l milk bottle. Secure string through lid and add a weight to the end of the string. JS play catch using bottle.

Discuss importance of reusing and recycling

Classification Activity

Discuss the difference between recycling and garbage. Particularly discuss syringes (always get an adult) and plastic rings (cut to help wild life)

Divide whiteboard into sections: recyclable, garbage, collection. JS blue tac cards into appropriate areas and explain why.

Outdoors Clean Up

Plant a variety of rubbish outside. JS wear gloves to collect litter and deposit it into correct receptacles.

Game – Put the Rubbish Away

Two JS stand beside a bin filled with ping-pong balls and throw them one at a time around the room. Remaining Joeys return them as quickly as possible.
