Scouts Australia is an RTO with ANTA. What does this mean? As a Registered Training Organisation, we are authorised to deliver nationally-accredited courses to our members, and potentially to non-members, which qualify for recognition by the Australian National Training Authority. Since the beginning of 2004 we have been delivering basic (pre-appointment) training to leaders which ranks at Certificate III level on the 12-stage Australian Qualifications Training Framework. All leaders who have participated in Basic Training in 2004 have also commenced their Certificate III in Business (Frontline Management). Each trainee leader who holds a Senior First Aid Certificate also has the opportunity to complete Certificate III in Leadership. Why do we have attachments? We offer competency-based training, which means that each participant will be able to demonstrate certain competencies as a result of the training. The completion of attachments (and the subsequent retention and use of them as a programming and information resource) is the most efficient and effective way of demonstrating competency while participating in training. Our training has not changed: in most cases the attachments merely formalise the work which participants are already doing on courses and during In-Service Training.
